The 'Lunettes de France' concept was created in 1995 by the Eyewear Optics committee in GIFO to promote the dynamism and expertise of French spectacle manufacturers at an international level, particularly abroad, in an export market
which represents an important portion of their business.

Almost 130 companies representing 95% of the ocular optics industry are members of GIFO, a forum where specialised, high performance small and medium sized businesses rub shoulders with large international groups. Through their creativity, they participate in the enrichment of the French industrial fabric, which can present the buyers of the entire world with a large range of optical frames and sunglasses.

Prestigious brand names, creative designers, and high quality manufacturing standards explain the prime importance of export in the spectacle manufacturers' business, which under the name 'Lunettes de France' stands out from the competition.

One of GIFO's principal objectives is to highlight French manufacturers' activity abroad and to promote their products, particularly at important professional optics exhibitions.

For several years, group communication activity has been carried out in particular through the organisation of collective participation by French companies in the most important international exhibitions in Europe, in Hong Kong, in China, in the USA, and in Latin America, to encourage market penetration in these countries.
